It is with great pleasure we announce our new venue for the 2019-2020 performances of Dynamite Dance Center!
We are truly grateful and appreciative of the Brookville community and Brookville Schools for hosting us in previous years, and we send hope and positivity to the community as they continue to rebuild after the 2019 Dayton Tornadoes. But, we are pleased to celebrate the change and provide our dancers with a new home venue for the 2019-2020 dance season!
What makes a great venue?
At Dynamite, we believe a great performance venue is determined by the type of event and experience you want your dancers, families, and guest to have - and remember.
It is always our goal to offer an experience that provides a lifetime of memories, but also the desire to be in the present - one that makes you want to put the smartphone down and breathe in the life that is shining from the stage.
A great venue also provides a sense of security and safety for our dancers, their parents, and the friends who join us.
The venue gives adequate space for staging, performing, and community.
And, a fantastic venue allows our dancers to be the stars of the show, by not competing with the noise and distractions of patrons and neighboring events.
Not only are the above attributes important, but the technical features of a venue are important for providing our dancers and guests a professional show and experience.
It brings us great joy to know our 2019-2020 venue provides all this and more to the dancers and families of Season 5 at Dynamite Dance Center!
Getting Back to What We Love!
It is no secret, Dynamite LOVES to put on a great performance for our dancers and families. It is always a goal to offer a professional and entertaining show to all that attend. And, for this reason the circumstances of the Season 4 SHOWTIME were incredibly difficult for all. Though the changes and postponement were by forces much greater than our control, it was difficult to not give the FULL EXPERIENCE of what our dancers and teachers had worked so hard on all season. It brings great happiness to know we will be back on a stage long before SHOWTIME 2020! As performances bring dance training full circle and allow for community and growth from our dancers and families.
Dynamite Dance Center is getting back to what we love and we are ready to share it with you in our brand-new venue!
Say, hello! To your 2019-2020 venue:
Wright Patterson Theater
We our honored to be performing inside the gates of Wright-Patterson AFB and look forward to giving our dancers and families an experience to remember this Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer 2020!
With our new venue comes a few changes in our policies, procedures, and performance details, but it's nothing to fret! We plan to make this a positive experience for all and hope to see you at the show!
Please stay tuned for an informative video on our new venue, ticketing, and much more!
This season, we are offering an amazing new program to enhance your dancer’s experience in dance class––Twirl!
As a supplement to our existing curriculum, Twirl is a fun + fanciful approach to dance class, and inspires creativity and imagination in your child while reinforcing dance basics.
As a Twirly girl, your dancer will receive:
• A Twirl activity book: We will utilize the book at least once per month during class, so we will store it at the studio all year. We will personalize it to your dancer, and she can take it home at the end of the year for continued fun!
• A Twirl ribbon for her dance bag: Each week, at the end of class, your dancer will earn a rhinestone for her ribbon. At the end of the dance year, she will have a super sparkly souvenir of her dance year!
• A Twirl Graduation Celebration Certificate: At the end of the dance year, we will host a mini-performance during dance class to demonstrate some of the fun and unique activities we’ve learned throughout the year, where your child will earn a certificate!
Your little dancer will look forward to dance day each week with the fun and imaginative activities offered in her Twirl class!
We are excited to offer this new class with both a Tap & Ballet combo class AND a Fairytale Ballet class.
Twirl Yellow - Tap & Ballet for dancers 5-7
Fairytale Ballet - Ballet for dancers 3.5-6
Join a Twirl Class by September 3 and receive a dress code tutu & tights free!
Plus, use the code: FAIRYTALE and save $10 at time of registration. - valid through September 1.
But... that's not all!
Is your dancer already enrolled in our Twinkle Star or Showstars Program?
On Monday, May 27, devastation struck many of our surrounding communities. Displacing families, friends, and whole towns. The damage left by the path of the Dayton tornadoes is evident in the news outlets, social media, and while driving through our neighboring towns.
We open our hearts and push through in these following days with hope and faith, by help of our neighbors. It is through the strong ties of our small communities we are able to function after such heartache.
It's not often our small towns feel this pain or witness firsthand the damage of mother nature, but this week, we grow a little more understanding and heartache for all those who've been previously affected by storms, natural disasters, and tragedy.
As I sit writing this, I have yet to make contact with 90% of our Dynamite community and I hope this message finds you well and pushing on in any unfortune you and your family have faced.
In moments like these, it's import to keep a schedule of normalcy for our future generations and offer a place of hope and positivity. Though difficult, we will soldier on. But, our normalcy is not left untouched by the damage done.
It is with a heavy heart, and a hope for pure understanding from our families, we must reschedule our upcoming performance, SHOWTIME 2019 - "A Dynamite Rydell".
It's that time of year again, preparing for next season and which class(es) is the best for your Acrobat. Since implementing the Acrobatique AcroDance Syllabus into our classes at Dynamite Dance Center we have seen steady progression from all our students! From building strength and technique to conquering tricks they once thought were impossible.
With a perfectly planned lesson, we begin class with a proper full body warm up, move on to practice drills to strengthen the bodies and minds, work through progressions and floor combinations, and finish classes working in group settings for partner tricks. During showtime and choreography prep we add the element of choreography into that jam packed lesson! We manage to accomplish all this in 60 minutes - to say we are proud of our dancers and how hard they work each week would be an understatement.
As we move forward into our 5th season and prepare the lessons for our Acro program, we have added extra requirements to our Junior level acro classes.
You may be wondering why? Why does my dancer have to take an extra class to continue his/her acro training?
I can't believe we are only 14 short weeks away from SHOWTIME 2019! It is such an exciting time of the year, but can bring anxiety and stress if we are not well-prepared. It is my hope to keep you well-informed and confident leading into your Twinkle Star's performance experience.
If at any time you have questions, please reach out!
As a Twinkle Star family, your SHOWTIME experience will differ from that of older dancers. It is important we keep our Twinkles relaxed, confident, and happy! We will try our best but your help as volunteers and parents will be essential in making it the best experience for your dancer.
In the coming weeks I will be providing families with information for SHOWTIME, please focus on the information for Twinkle Stars! It can be confusing, as each class experience varies from another. Twinkle Star requirements are less than those of older dancers and geared toward providing the best experience for their age group.
The bold font information:
Each Twinkle Star class will perform in TWO routines.
This will differ from the 2 routines performed in the holiday show, as we have learned from our last performance and made improvements!
Tuesday, Twinkle Stars 4-5:
Costumes were purchased in the Fall with either the VIP Performance Package or the individual costume fee.
*If you have recently enrolled (as of December or later) your costume fee will be on your account. The fee is due by March 15.
Costumes have been finalized and costume images will be available on your accounts in March.
Tights & Shoes for Costumes:
Each dancer receives 1 pair of tights with their costume. These tights are specifically for performance. Please do not use them for classes before Picture day & SHOWTIME.
Shoes are those used during season with dress code.
Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On - CREATIVE MOVEMENT - ALL TWINKLE DANCE
Hair & Makeup
Hair can be styled any way you'd like, as long as it is out of the face and not a distraction to the dancer. All hair styles must include any hair accessories provided with the costume.
Makeup is encouraged to help keep Twinkles from being washed out under the stage lights.
If you are a VIP SHINE family, your makeup kits will be arriving this Spring.
If you are interested in purchasing a Twinkle Star makeup kit, they will be available on our Parent Portal Online Store.
The makeup palette is specifically designed for the younger dancer with the perfect pairing of shades and products to provide a finished look without an overdone, too old makeup application!
Additional Performance Opportunity
All Twinkle Stars are invited and encouraged to take part in the Father Daughter dance! This season we are excited to offer it in a streaming video format to allow Daddy and Daughter to work it into their schedule and make it a date each time they wish to practice! With limited in studio rehearsals, we hope this opens the option for more families to enjoy this sweet experience with their dancer.
You can enroll for the Daddy Daughter dance in your Parent Portal.
Rehearsals, Picture Day, and Requirements
Please look for additional information coming soon about rehearsal schedule and preparing for performance day!
To Our Families,
First off, I want to thank you for being a part of our community and spending your Saturday with us for our 3rd Annual Holiday Performance, Candyland Christmas. Your patience during our technical issues on Saturday, December 15 was greatly appreciated, and our dancers were professional and patient as well.
I am proud of how hard our dancers worked in the weeks leading up to our show and the joy of them being on stage is hard to top! I hope you enjoyed watching them perform as much as I did.
To be a part of the growth of your children and help them achieve something as big as performing on a stage in front of 300+ people is incredible! I understand how special these performances are, how individual each experience is and how important being able to remember those wonderful moments are. Events like these cannot be replicated.
I am sorry we failed you during this holiday performance, as our video files are corrupted.
We did not accurately predict the possibilities of the technical challenges we faced during the performance. We truly believed the issue had been fixed during the delay of the performance. There was a larger issue during the first part of the show, which resulted in files being destroyed.
Because of our mistake, we are unable to offer video files for the 2018 holiday show, Candyland Christmas. I understand how frustrating and infuriating this can be. This is not our usual standard for shows and service.
Kyle and I are very sorry.
Dynamite Dance Center will be implementing a new backup system and extra camera set up for future performances to prevent this terrible mistake from happening again. We will be releasing a highlight reel of the salvaged files of this past performance, but are unable to produce individual routines. Your free HD videos included in your experience will be top-notch from here on out.
Again, we are so sorry for this mistake and outcome of the 2018 holiday performance videos.
We look forward to providing a much better experience at the 2019 SHOWTIME, "Welcome to Rydell".
